Mount Vernon wildlife control tip of the month:
What are some humane ways to kill a squirrel in a cage?
If you have trapped a squirrel but have decided it needs to go then it is most likely true that you have chosen to end its life with a very humane method to accomplish the task. No one really wants to see the animal suffer, and so the quickest and “Nicest” way to make this happen becomes your main focus. If this is the option you have chosen, here are some possibilities that Mount Vernon pest control can employ without letting the squirrel out of the cage.
The most obvious one is poison. If you add some poison to the food that the animal is eating it can quickly solve the problem. The squirrel eats the poison and moments later is dead. Of course you want to ensure that you choose something that can act quickly. Choosing the wrong kind of poison or giving it in the wrong dosage can extend the squirrels life for many minutes. Those are minutes where it will be suffering, which is defeating the purpose of what you were trying to accomplish.
If poison is not the option you like then you can consider drowning. While there is some suffering involved, it can still be a very fast and effective technique to employ. All you have to do is to put the cage in some water and let nature continue from there. The squirrel will have no place to go and in a minute or two it will be gone. Then you simply throw out the squirrel and you are done.
There are also harpoon type devices that you can use to put against the squirrel that will do the job. These are built so that you can get enough control of the beast to stab it through the heart or another vital organ, causing it to die. This can be very humane, but will also be a lot more messy. The blood from the squirrel is going to come out when it is stabbed and this may be get all over.
Whatever option you employ, you want to make sure that you or Mount Vernon pest control wear gloves anytime you are near the cage. The squirrel is likely to bite or scratch if Mount Vernon animal trapping are near, and this can be a serious health risk to you. These animals carry a wide variety of diseases, and you don’t want your desire to kill off this animal leading to your own untimely demise. That would be the ultimate irony for sure.
